FAQ: Sexual Offender's Check

A Sexual Offenders Check is a background check conducted to determine if an individual has been convicted of any sexual offenses. This is crucial for various purposes, such as employment in positions involving children or vulnerable individuals.
Individuals who work or volunteer in positions that involve contact with children or vulnerable individuals are often required to obtain a Sexual Offenders Check. This includes roles in education, healthcare, social work, and more.
Regulation 44 (1)(b) mandates that any person who works closely with children or provides services to them must undergo a Sexual Offenders Check. This regulation aims to ensure the safety and protection of children from potential harm.
Section 44 of this Act requires individuals who work with children or vulnerable individuals to undergo a comprehensive background check, including a Sexual Offenders Check. This legislation aims to prevent individuals with a history of sexual offenses from being employed in positions where they could potentially harm others.
To apply, you need to gather required documents such as your identification, consent forms, and any supporting documents. Then, you can submit your application to CSI AFRICA, where we’ll guide you through the process.

You’ll need to submit:

  • A completed application form – CSI AFRICA will supply you with this form.
  • Proof of identity (copy of ID or passport).
  • Consent forms allowing the check to be conducted.
  • Police Clearance Report supplied by CSI AFRICA
The process usually takes 6 to 8 weeks from the date of submission.
Yes, we prioritize the confidentiality and security of your information. Your documents and personal details are handled with the utmost care and are used solely for the purpose of conducting the Sexual Offenders Check.
CSI AFRICA will provide you with official documentation confirming that the request was submitted.  There is currently no online system where you can check your status officially. 
Having a previous conviction doesn’t automatically disqualify you from certain positions, but it’s important to be transparent about your history during the application process. The decision to hire or engage an individual will depend on the nature of the offense and the requirements of the position.
